Character

It was Halloween night and I was going to be a Mafia member when all of a sudden it hit me how to build a character. My way is an analogy of taking a shower a processes i have started to actually do. When we take a shower we walk in with all our normal clothes on and we are who we are. When we take are clothes of we lose parts of us and we are almost a neutral person but there are still parts of us (such as our personality) that do not vanish with our clothes. Then we take a shower and we let the water take away all emotion and then we get out of the shower as neutral person. We put on our pants and this develops the stance of our character. Now we add the shirt and that gives us our posture. For an example I had a mafia member stance. When i put my shirt on it gave me a relaxed, a bit curvier spine. My shoulder came down. Now we have the basis of the character but we are missing are personality and the way we speak. Anything else we wear besides the basic clothing is our personality. My suit jacket gave me power and more of a flirtatious guy. My hair was cared for and combed perfectly. My hat gave me the voice of a New York gangster. I walked down stairs and picked up the last piece which was my gun. I put it into my suit and that made the final touches of this character i built. The very last step, is to, talk to yourself and tell a life story of your character that last at lease a minute. Now you have your new character, I strongly encourage you to try this method and if it works great if not well i'm sorry.
