Living Part Two
So if acting is a way of life, then what is the difference from acting in life and acting on stage? As you probably didn't know till you read the last blog or read something like it somewhere else you always act but since you might not of known it you don't do it consciously while when you step on the stage you know who you are suppose to act as and what they want. The Greeks who created theater were the first to grasp on this idea, that we can take this thing we do in our daily life and improve it on stage. This was the birth of theater and what we call the stage. Now that you know how and why acting is a life skill you may be wondering why you need to know this to act. As you may have heard "On stage we do we don't pretend or "act"." This is a very interesting quote because it sounds untrue because we aren't going to kill someone just because the play says so its pretend. This quote refers to the emotional standpoint of a play. But in order to "do" and not just "pretend" we must know how and this is were stage acting crosses with life acting. As all actors know we must learn to relive moments of our life to strike an emotion our character feels but if we aren't conscious about what we are doing in life how can we relive a feeling that we didn't exam what you felt. With this info next time you are sad stop and think of how you feel, look how you stand. Then when you are on stage and you have to feel sad just pause, and relive that moment and position and you will look amazing to the audience and who knows where that might take you.
